Marine Science
WEDNESDAYS 5-6 PM PST
Oceans make up over 70% of Earth’s surface, yet humans have only discovered about 5% of what these waters have to offer. Have you ever wondered what lies at those depths? Or why scientists work so hard to conserve these oceans? Through this course, students will explore everything from plankton, to ecosystems, and the chemical makeup of oceans. They will gain a deeper understanding of the importance of Earth’s oceans and how to preserve them for future generations.
Fun Fact!
The ocean acts as Earth’s “heart” because it circulates heat and moisture around the planet!

Meet The Teacher: Sophia Hsu
Sophia Hsu is currently a junior at Carlmont High School in California. At school, her favorite subject is math, but outside of school you can find her swimming, watching documentaries, cooking, and having picnics with her friends. Growing up near the ocean, Sophia has always been interested in environmental science and marine biology. She looks forward to sharing her passion and inspiring other girls with similar interests!
